always loved the matt black paint job on the fto, there was on the ftooc,with a facelift bumper, looked class !!

Haven't seen it in the flesh myself but it was something I was considering doing to an FTO down the line, not now though, no point doing something thats already been done.

I've added a poll on this, lets see how divided opinion is on the matt black paint. personally I like it for being different and slightly sinister.

It's a marmite paintjob, not my cup of tea but it definitely looks different in the flesh to the photos.
As with making any modification to your car it only matters if you like it.

Try driving a white one with a neighbour who thinks its funny to give his 2 year old a whiteboard marker and tell them your shiny paintwork is for writing on. Funny how people change their mind when you tell them if theres one spot on the car they'll be forking out 3K for a paint job.

Similar paint job undertaken by one of the guys over on Irish Rotary, matt black really suits the RX-7 IMO.



Andy you should consider tinting the rear indicators red and sticking on a set of bronze rims, these changes would finish the car nicely.

The Matt Black suits that RX-7 because of the kit and rims in the same way it'd suit a suitably kitted out FTO. Matt Black for me doesn't make sense unless the car has an unfussy yet agressive stance to it. Its def not the first exterior mod I'd be doing to any car unless the car was very aggressive looking to start with - e.g. RS4, Focus RS etc

Saw it in the flesh yesterday and I didn't think it was bad, the alloys suit it, and I think tinted windows would make it all a bit more evil or something.
There is a matt black Focus after coming into production, the RS500, a serious looking yoke altogether!

Yip - Saw it last week when I called in to Halfords as well. Actually quite a good job on the wrap - for me I feel it needs a phatter stance - i.e. lower with better offsets on the rims (perhaps spacers) and loose the OE rear spoiler and put a set of side skirts and front splitter on. Having said all that its actually not a bad looking FTO at all - It'd be nice to have it at the Sleek FX show next Sunday.
