Fuel cuts lower then 8000rpm

Postby Elixir » Thu Nov 20, 2008 2:21 am

Hi all .

I just got my 95 Fto GPX (5speed MT ) from japan , dont know a whole lot about this car , but its a screamer , fairly fast and oh yeah i love the looks :P .
My problem with it is : it just can't get past the 6000rpm due to fuel cut . the redline is 8000rpm , what can i do to fix this ?

All FTOs are limited to 6K RPM until the engine has warmed up.

So if the car warms up it should go till 8000rpm ? If that's the case ,mine just will never pass the 6000rpm . even warm . i was thinking more fuel pressure or a pump relay switch , but don't know for sure . BTW thanks Bernard for the reply .

If it won't pass 6K even when warm it could be a temp. sender that's the problem.
Search the forum for 'diagnostic', it's easy enough to do and should tell you if something is failing.

Welcome to the club BTW

What.. where??
Ah no, a few regulars alright, so you're certainly not alone. And if you've only got to 6k rpm so far, your car was only just starting to come to life, you've a treat in store past that.

Welcome along anyway. :D

Could be a problem with a reconditioned alternator also. Engine ECU problem.

I still have not figured which sensor controls the cold engine limiter or if it is an internal timer in the ECU.

He strapped my FTO on a Dyno and worked an all nighter .
A full reprogram was needed on my car . also an alternaotr swap and a reset of diagnostics . he also put in an old t4 turbo in of his evo 9 . :P i have now a whopping 320hp . Me Like

Lo all .
Yeah he did everything overnight . not byhimself tho'.
He has his own tune shop . He studies that stuff 2 and worked in the pits for rally team mitsubishi . but he never has time for our cars anymore .
There wil be pics soon . but after the paintjob  there was less room to work in engine bay , but he did it somehow .
And it wasn't the standard ECU , aftermarket stand alone was ordered in a month ago .

He wanted to make it AWD but that would take engine swap ,,, and i told him f*** NO i like the v6 its a screamer .

In about 3to 4 weeks the paint is done and pics will be uploaded

Totally disagree, the 6A13TT from the VR-4 (280bhp / 267 lb-ft) has been transplanted into the FTO many times with great success (most in Auz / NZ), its been discussed on this forum a lot. A launch control unit will take care of any wheel spin off the line.

nice ... i would like to read about such a thing made by a real person without sponsored budget (which by my calculations goes way beyond the figures ppl around here spin about ...)
