I was thinkin along the same lines, Might be an idea to delete inactive profiles of over a year say for talks sake.
I've only been a member for a few months and already noticed it's the same names on the forum on a regular basis, the old hands so to speak

Can't see why we'd want or need to do this.

Well when you click into the members list there are numerous profiles for example that joined in 2003 and only ever made 7 posts etc, gives a false representation of the site. just thinking out aloud

what do you mean "gives a false representation of the site?" just curious.

In the members section it lists 959 users, when realisticly this figure would be for talks sake 100 of which as Seb said only 50 or 60 could be considered regulars.

Ah that happens on every site though, look at the Oz site, or the FTOOC, any of them have people that sign up cause they think they might use it and never actually do, or sign up and forget the site even exists. I'm signed up to another one in Oz, think its a seperate site for the NW members or something and I never used it, meant to use it cause I wanted to ask something but found what I wanted on another site so didnt bother.

I'm in agreement. We discussed this a few years back and decided against the idea. On line forums by their nature have a lot of 'lurkers'.

I'd say 90% of people only sign up to a forum like this when they have a problem. They ask for advice, then vanish, never to be seen again. It's the nature of this sort of forum. still, it would not exist without the regular contributors.
