FTO revamp.

Hey Guy's it's offical the First Monday in January how depressing! Any way sure we'll get over it, just means we're that little bit closer to Summer! :D
Hope ye all had a lovely Christmas?

I've decided to group together all my yearly presents, valentines birthdays anniversary mothers day ect, so I recon that should gather me at least 2000euro right?
So anyway ben really looking into propper customizing my baby, I'm talking body kit, total interior makover white leather dash, seats, carpet, steering wheel the works, face glow dials, spoiler, total pearl respray, LAMBERGUINEY doors, front face lift, the works.
So all tips & advice are welcome, plus anyplace you can advice me to go.

Not if u know where to shop!
Plus my boyfriend has his own compressor & welder plus he has to do al the labour for free so it's basically just the gear I need to get.

Maybe start with a set of 17 inch rims and lower the car.
Then move onto exhaust (preferably a quad blueflame). Styling wise - the FTO works better low key and clean - perhaps a DC front and skirts, clear (or tinted) side indicators,delock the rear boot and remove rear spoiler for that bare ass look.

I liked my FTO best when it had that low squat look with a spoilerless rear.

Agree but gota say I like the spoiler the bare ass look just doesn't do it for me. thinking something like this, only a pearl white with a tint of purple

I think you'll find you've a lot more mods on that FTO than a set of dial rings - brembos, suspension and cosmetic upgrades already done - theres not a lot that your FTO needs.

Ok, to rephrase: I'm happy with the Brembos, tein adjustables, evo alloys, induction kit and the dial rings... :wink:

I agree with gfalls here, 2k won't make a dent i spent a fortune doing my first fto and i did the work myself where possible using my mates garage, a pearl respray alone will eat the 2k, i hope you manage to get as much as possible out of the 2k you have but you won't get everything even if you do know where to shop :D see below

not trying to put you of the idea of modding just keeping it real for you i wish someone had told me beforehand how much i would end up needing/spending ..... sorry :cry: edit

I'm talking body kit,.For a full body kit your looking at about 1k total interior makover white leather dash, seats, carpet, steering wheel the works,.For that extent of leather done by a pro your talking 2k face glow dials,.about 80-100 euros spoiler,. free as it will be part of the bodykit total pearl respray,.Minium2k and thats done on the cheep. ie painted but not oven baked. LAMBERGUINEY doors,.Remember the fto doors are heavy so no cheep kits only the good ones will do so about 1.5k front face lift,.thought you were going the bodykit route :smt017 ah well thats another 500 euros the works.

From my experience, once you start modding its very hard to stop...or even to pace yourself.
I would say leave the colour choice till last as you'll prob be more settled on what you want and there's less chance of marking it when working on your other mods (eg taking out the seats for seat covers).

Whatever the mod I'd recommend seeing it in person on someone elses car before butchering you're own. Some mods sound good in theory or look good in pics but are nasty up close and personal.

also i forgot to mention once the bodykit is inplace your going to want and trust me on this , modding is a bug and you always continually want to improve the look so next after the body kit is have it lowered and if going the fully adjustable route thats another 1k then ofcourse you'll want alloys and tyres thats a minium of another 1k for a decent set or even upto 1k just for the tyres depending on which you buy i remember when i first got my first set of alloys i got a set of league tantrums imported from japan they cost about 1.5k iirc and i clad them in 18" toyo proxes at 285 a tyre :shock: ok not that much nowadays but still i'm guessing over 130 per tyre for proxes.(ok the set i now have are 17" and they cost just under 1k sterling including the tyres) then ofcourse once the alloys are inplace thats uprate the brakes time there is another 300 then the is a stainless exhaust thats another 500 approx.

see the list just goes on.... yes by all means mod the car just be prepared to spend more than 2k

I personally wouldn't recommend spending 5K modifying an FTO cosmetically (though I would spend this on the FTO mechanically to prolong the life of the car) - most aren't worth much more than between 4-8K these days. You'll never get it back on the car.

Stick to your orig plan - budget for 2K and get a set of lowering springs on the FTO and a nice set of rims - if you've any change left put it towards an induction kit or exhaust.

Once you start modding you never make any of it back on a resale. But its is a pure feel good factor to see the end results.
Seeing as lambo doors came up there, I was looking at my doors and wondering how they convert them, theres the little black sort of wind deflector thing just above where the top of the window sits into the rubber, you know to make sure water doesnt get in seeing as they're frameless windows, how does this work with lambo conversions, does the door have to offset the deflector to open properly or does the deflector have to come off?

Lambo door conversions pop outwards a small bit for clearence before going up.

That would be telling! Yep just the outside but it did get a good clean on the inside when I did the plugs.
