Anyone every heard this crowd? Listening to them on youtube, some pretty class songs. Metal band with a female lead singer that sings like she should be in an orchestra, deadly mix! 'I wish I had an angel' and 'ever dream' are my fav so far. Very close to replacing Amon Amarth at the top of my list!

Dont know, they're Finnish anyway. I do remember there was a metal band in the eurovision all right few years ago from some scandinavian country, all the oldies were shocked at it. Could have been them.

Yeah they mad - like some of their stuff.. there's a track called wishmaster which has a pretty funny "misheard lyrics" video..

Wishmaster wasnt the theme for the film of the same name was it? They're very like Evanescence actually the more I listen to them, just a bit harder. The fellas voice is like a black metal singer, great mix of vocal abilities. I need to upgrade my speakers soon cause they're about to get some serious abuse!!

Not too sure about the wishmaster theme - only watched that once and I was quite drunk at the time & I may or may not have slept through most of it.

As far as I'm aware it's female singer on most of their tracks.. :-)

You're right to abuse your speakers with it though - it's great stuff.

As a hardcore metalhead I feel I have to intervene here.

Nightwish are sh*te - about as metal as Westlife.

Awful songs, awful singer. If you like the whole girl fronted goth metal type thing, check out Lacuna Coil from Italy. Genuinely good band.

Also - the metal band from Finland that won the Eurovision were called Lordi.

Please don't blare Nightwish from the FTO!!!!!! I couldn't take spotting that.

I agree, I had endless schoolboy dicussions on pigeon-holing metal bands into genres, the concensus was the harder the better i.e. death metal beats thrash metal beats speed metal beat hard rock beats AOR and so on and so forth. Now if it sounds good (subjectively), I'll listen to it.

On a more light hearted note, anyone going to Metallica in August? This is one summer gig I'll be looking forward to....

I'm going to Metallica in August and also going to see them at Rock im Park on June 8th alright!! As for Nightwish......

Yup, going to Metallica too.
OK so maybe some peope think nightwish are crap, but I like them anyway, but I have a massive varying taste, depends on my mood. As for those who like to blare metal out the window, for that I usually use the Amon Amarth cd, now whose first to say their not metal? Cant get more metal than viking death metal.
