GPvR price difference

Postby Myfeckin FTO » Thu Apr 21, 2005 11:20 am

Guys - take a look at these two links - both garages advertising the same car - and massive differnces in asking price - I have come across this on a number of occasions - the car sits in the dock while Dublin dealers advertise it at stupid money - and all the time you can go to the dealer in the dock (S&B Motors etc) and pick up the car for the lower price.

€3250 in the difference on the exact same car though -

Haven't actually seen many Tip GPvR's - they're nearly all manual.

Didn't realise that this type of thing was going on. It's just blatant, and the type of pratice that really gives dealers a bad name..dirty scum.
€13750 is crazy money, although if I could get a cool €3250 for sitting on my ar$e I'd probably try it too. :)

The car looks well, although I just can't warm to white as a car colour.

I've had the opposite experience, nearly all the GPvR's that I've seen at auction have been tips. Given the nature of the car I thought they would be available in manual only. I think(?) CJ said tiptronic transmission was available as an option.

MfFTO,
If the GPvR doesn't grab your attention could I interest you in a 350Z?

How about this one

OR maybe this one?

I've emailed Motolink to see what they have to say about it, if I get a response, I'll report back.

Absolutely, I hope they end up on this forum and read this thread to find out that they've been sussed out. They call it business, I call it taking the p!ss.

I like the 350Z (who wouldn't) - but I'd be waiting a little longer for the 350Z to further decrease in value - its come down a lot in the last year - for the moment I'd rather spend the money on a Manual FTO and add bits on. A clean, nicely spec'd manual gpx is a thing of beauty IMO - the right size (350Z is a bit big and heavy) - good performance (faster than a TT or a base engine 190bhp RX8) - v good handling (esp after you sort the bushes, droplinks, dampers and strut bars etc) - probably the best all round sports car for the money in Ireland at the moment - ok the insurance is a killer (generally) - but the running costs are manageable (in comparison to a Scooby or RX7). And you get an online database of info on the car - any question dealt with - what more could you want for a car.

So - you still selling Mustang? :P

3250 is a huge difference alright, but I would be curious to see whether VRT is included in the cheaper price... without going to revenue.ie, 30% (% for VRT of 2L cars) of the 10,500 would come to about 3000.

Maybe it is just the lads chancing their arm though - we've all seen the 95 FTOs advertised for 8k! If thats the case hopefully they won't get it!

this is the norm with dealer. here  , is it any wonder i go direct for my cars,

if you want a deal source out a car direct from japan or get your ass down to the docks, a friend of mine bought an EVO 5 got it for 21,000 cash last friday down the docks, this car was advertised in several garages in dublin ranging from 23,900 to 24,950.

same thing happened with that 1997 black gpx manual several months ago , byrne autos wanted over 12k, hi grade imports were selling it for 10.5k.

also ..... to continue with all the bitching, if anyone here is looking to get a subaru impreza ( sti ) GET CHASSIS NUMBER CHECKED, there are lots of WRX non STIs here, big difference in prices in japan...... sorry just thought id add this

I've heard via a direct source who was one of the key players in the whole jap import scene when it started in Eire back 10 or 15 years ago that a lot of the cars get a generous helping of salt  before arriving on Irish shores! Caveat Emptor!

The 350Z looks absolutly beautiful in this colour. All it neets is the Nismo spoiler and skirts kit. I dont know if anyone reads EVO magazine but they has a Nismo 350Z as one of their long term cars in this colour with that body kit. It wsa actually used in the TV ad for Gran Turismo 4.

a 350Z or a Honda S2000 (which can also look stunning with a subtle body kit) is what i looking at after i sell the FTO (currently driving the red facelift GPX with version R rear spoiler tha i imported some months back: too perfect to let go!).

Unfortunatly the 350Z and S2000 ane both 2 seaters. The FTO really is a hard car to replace. Very few cars are as beautiful, practical or cheap! :D

Yes it does. By far and away the nicest colour for the car (what were Nissan thinking with that nasty orange colour -likely to shed thousands off the resale value of the car. )

Thought I'd trawl up this old thread to relay my experience
About two months back I was bidding on a car in Japan, which I narrowly missed :x Anyway I see that a car with a striking resemblance! has found it's way to Irish shores and is currently advertised with 28k km's lower than the mileage figure of the one I was looking at :smt017
Surely not the same car then :!:
But IF it was the same car I WOULD be pissed for a number of reasons
One that I missed the car by such a narrow margin.
Two This would mean the car has been clocked.
Three if asking price is realised the dealer stands to make ~45% on the transaction, which is a bit excessive IMO.
 :smt013 :smt093

Anyway here are pictures of the car I was trying to buy.
A navy '99 mirage asti RX version R, with white wheels, and 108km on the clock. I think you'll agree it has a quite a unique look.

How surprised I was to find another navy 99' mirage asti RX version R with white wheels for sale in Ireland here This one has 80k km on the clock though.
I guess that look is not so unique after all :smt090

this applies to other member sites too, get up off ur ass and bring the car over from japan yourself as some of you already have done.
