It works with the immobiliser on....

Just tested it the other day, my car will actually stay on with the immobilser running, it sputters and chugs but will stay started.... surely this isnt right...

What did you try, turning on the immobiliser while the engine was running? I'm thinking that the immobiliser would be designed to prevent the engine from starting, not stopping it while its already running.

Does raise the question though, if it'll run while the immobiliser is on, could you then push start the car with the immobiliser on?

And I thought that immobiliser that Mustang sold me was a spare one. He also sold me some wheel nuts and a set of brake pads so I'd be careful driving home if I were you.

No, I tried starting the car while the red light was flashing.

Its obviously not running well while its on.. it coughs and splutters, but it still runs. If I then press the button to turn it off the car starts running properly.

FWIW the car operated in much the same way while I had it. With the immobiliser on. The car will start sometimes after you turn it over. However like you say, it coughs and splutters and after a few seconds the immobiliser chokes it and the car konks out. Never tried it, but I expect that if you tried to overcome thies by giving it more throttle, you'd end up flooding the engine. Realistically, can you drive anywhere with the immobiliser on?

That was a top quality immobiliser -I didn't want anyone getting their greedy mits on your car before I got a chance.......now where did I put that spare immobiliser key
