Wheels look great man, suits the car! Was the sunroof on the car when you bought it or did you get it installed?

Looking good 8)

Indicators look miles better - I fitted the MX5's as well - slighty too big but once bonded onto the car they won't go anywhere.
Nice wheels - good to see the calipers painted - it sets off the wheels.
Car is nicely lowered too - what springs did you use?
Are you thinking of getting a facelift bumper on there? I imagine you'll want to change the standard rear spoiler as well if you're going down the road of fitting a different front spoiler and sideskirts.

How do you find the sunroof ? - mine can rattle a little on rough roads.

Wheels go really well with the colour - I was always a sucker for red FTO's :D

What width are the wheels/tyres - looks like the rear's could possibly do with some spacers?

Apart from that it's gonna look the dogs once you get a facelift bumber on there.....

tyres are 215-45-17 toyos, dont think i could put spacers on as they nearly touch the edge of the rear arches

Yeah - I have a personal preference for a fairly low offset - I like the rims to stick out slightly - spacers would help here - but you'd need to make sure that the spacer has a correct hub for the alloy to sit on - otherwise you'd be looking at some nasty handling.

A lot of people ignore offsets when buying alloys - And it can really help both handling and looks to have the wheel within the correct range.
Better to have them too far in than too far out though.

Sound advise if I ever heard it!

The tyres looks like a 125/45 profile, do you get much rubbing on cornering?

Hi MYFECKIN, as regards to the MX5 repeaters how do they look , not to big?, how much bigger are they to the stock ones and do they still fit into the repeater rebate,or edge slightly onto the wing?
just found these on ebay.

P.S what did you use to bond them in?

I bought the clear Repeaters from MX5 parts as well - I got the more expensive set at the time (28GBP approx) though there doesn't seem much difference in them.

The MX5 repeaters are designed to sit on the outside of the wing rather than in a recess like the FTO's - they are also a little larger and not an exact fit - I used some silicon adhesive (designed to stick tiles or glass to metal) and they are far more secure than even the originals - its really easy to take out the originals - they just pop out with a screwdriver (put some tape or cloth around it first though) - you'll see the indent where you place the screwdriver on the edge of the standard repeater if you look close. And tape the wires to the side of the car when changing the repeaters or they'll fall down inside the panel.

The orange bulbs needed the paint sanded off the connections on the bulbs to enable an electrical connection but this is a 2 sec job. The more difficult bit is that the FTO repeater socket is a different shape to the MX5 socket so I had to trim the edge of the tabs with a stanley to fit.

I'm not recommending that you rush out and buy these but if you do it right you will not have any problems - or go to the next meet and I'll do them for you - it really is a 5 min job overall.

Heres a closer picture of mine to give you an idea of what they look like.

I can pretty much guarantee you will get some rubbing on full lock with a 45 profile on 17's especially if your car is lowered - if you're not getting rubbing then chances are your wheelarch liners are worn away.

You should be able to make out the offset by looking around the rim - it should give the width of the rim (e.g. 7.5J) and the offset and sometimes the pcd and bore as well (mine does anyway). I would imagine you have an offset rating of about 40 - mine sit out further as they have an offset rating of 35 but a lot will depend on the design and placement of the hub of the alloy - as yours looks flush with the rim the placement of your alloy will look further inside the arches than an alloy with a deeper dish.

Mitsubishi recommend an offset of 38 but there are tolerances either side of this dependant upon the alloy widths and diameter as well believe it or not. Too far out and you put too much strain on the hubs and bearings etc and too far in and you risk rubbing on your suspension and calipers etc -either way handling will get affected and thats not even taking into account what happens when you fit alloys with the wrong centre bore etc -
Theres a book you could write on it but generally people that buy aftermarket alloys (and most that sell them as well) don't have much of a clue as to the correct fit.

How much did the rims set you back ? I really prefer the gunmetal black look to the standard silver.

They do look well, but with the adhesive isn't it going to be to nasty trying to change a blown bulb?

Nah Kev - This stuff is magic - it'll take a bit of pulling off (fnar fnar!) but its not like superglue - its more like a sealant - very good adhesive properties but its still a soft and jelly like substance - won't damage paintwork - The repeater is not stuck solid - it can move a couple of mm each way on the sealant and gives the repeater a damping effect.

Sure I think the D Speed indicators probably look better but you're paying an awful lot more for them and they seem to have a poor reputation for watertightness whereas the MX5 units are designed to sit on the outside of the panel and have not given me any trouble. I have angled them slightly into the top of the recess so that they sit proud at the top at about 2 mm and at the bottom at about 4mm - this doesn't take from the look and ensures no water getting behind the unit - the addition of the sealant (which wouldn't be there if you where fitting to an MX5) only makes it doubly watertight.

As I said before - I'm not recomending this route to anyone - Its gonna be more fiddly to fit than the D Speed but I sure ain't no bodyshop guru - so if I can do it - anyone can.
