I filled my motor with this stuff last week, no notacible difference. Does the ECU adapt to the new fuel straight away or does it take time? Should I notice a bit more power using it?

It will take approx 65kms for the FTO ECU to adapt unless you reset the battery.

I can't really substanciate any bhp/performance gains on the Zed but my trip computer doesn't lie - I've been doing a little experiment over the past few months. This wasn't exactly an economy run - it ran over several thousand kms at MyFeckin pace.
1) Shell V power (95RON) - worst economy of 7.8km per litre (22mpg) - best of 8.4km per litre (24mpg)
2) Shell V power + 3% solution of silkolene proboost (98RON) - worst economy of 8.6km per litre (25mpg) - best of 9.6km per litre (27mpg).
3) Maxol E5 (99.2RON) - only on 2nd tank so far but worst economy of 10.2km per litre (29mpg) and present tank is currently sitting on 10.3km per litre after 560kms.

I'm thinking of adding a can of proboost to 30litres of E5 to bring the RON up to 102RON and see if that makes any difference but for economy gains alone the E5 seems worthwhile especially considering its the same price as normal unleaded.

Myfeckin' those aren't bad figures at all - I do get better economy from the fto than you in your zed but that's to be expected..frankly I'd have thought the difference would have been greater..

I use 5-6 liter over 73km - that's muad drivin' ;-) which is mostly 60-70kmph as there's annoying traffic involved.

This sounds good and I'd like to give it a few tankfuls to see how it goes. I'm trying to find somewhere convenient to fill up though but so far I am miles from any Maxol station, plus the nearest one on my work route takes me off mission too much.
Does anybody know what brand the service station in the airport is? It used to be maxol but not sure if it still is? Anyone know? Does it have E5? Cheers

Its not listed in the link Muad posted earlier in the thread so I guess it doesn't have it. Give them a ring...

Maud, Are you using this stuff regularly now? Anybody else? Feedback please?
I enquired at my local Maxol last night, was told that all the pumps labelled unleaded are now E5 -i.e. they have effectively stopped selling regular unleaded. I thought they would be selling both. I guess the risks must be minimal is they are taking that approach. Looks like they got new tanks in for the E5.

Yup using it all the time..

Even stuck it in the Girlfriends golf last week.

Haven't noticed any difference at all..cept I had to change the route I drive home in order to get the stuff :-)

It is quite possible that the difference is so small that it's not immediately obvious that something has changed..also the weather had been real bad the last few days so I haven't been able to stick the foot down to do the stress test :-)

(wet track + slicks + heavy foot = bad things)

I've been using it a few weeks, car feels quicker, but maybe it's a placebo effect?

filled up with a tank of E5 in Tralee just before the meet and its just out at 620Kms thats a very good improvement considering I also have changed to a wider tire as well.. fairly pi$£ed now though because I cant get it locally yet.

yea the lack of maxol garages sucks the thing is that my car is mapped to e5 (99ron) so she runs rather sluggish on 95.

worth it to be getting over 31MPG or 27 if i drive hard

I've been using this stuff exclusively for the past 2 months or so and the moxol garage I get it in is also one of the cheapest I've seen 1.27 per litre for e5 compared to 1.30 in most places for regular unleaded. I've definitly seen a marked improvement in the drive quality of my car as well as a 2-3 mpg increase since changing over.

I wonder would it be worth part filling your tank with E85 and then E5 - say- an 80% (E5) / 20% (E85) mix?

Would bring up the RON further without adversely affecting mpg much.
The only reason that Maxol use a 5% mix is to do with EU regulations.
Other countries are alreay using a 10% ethanol mix.
