[SOLD] 1996 Mitsubishi FTO GR 2.o Manual

Postby Sebastian » Wed Dec 24, 2008 12:23 am

The time has come for the GR to go .

Probably not the best time or times but i need her gone.
Money will have to take another route unfortunately :(

The Fto was the main reason for hundreds of hours spent online and on this forum and i can say it changed my perception of japanese cars .

I bought the car standard in feb 07 and in the 2 years of ownership i tried to cover every corner starting with interior, exterior and engine.

The facts :

Nct: 11/09

Exterior :

Resprayed in GTO R71 Carcas red
Standard FTO Gr spoiler
Debaged front & debaged rear stickers
Upgraded front FOG lights!

Engine/Trans/Clutch/Exhaust :

*2L v6 with the tappets(camskill) changed about 7k kms ago
*transmission is 5 speed manual box
*exhaust was changed completly with a standard second hand exhaust in perfect condition around 5 k kms ago
*new battery in it since December

Service :

Aux belts changed Power Steering/Air Con
timing belt has been replaced ~25K kms ago
water pump & coolant change. 10k ago
tappets done
slick 50 engine treatment added at the last oil change (5k kms ago)
Oil changed on a regular basis (oil used Castrol Magnatec 10w40)
Replaced the standard spark plugs with colder "Denso Iridiums" k20 when Tbelt was done
Upgraded to PIAA 400/500 Hz Sport Horn
starter motor was changed 2 k kms ago

Suspension/brakes/wheels/tyres

standard suspension
Upgraded to GPX calipers + new pads all around
Front bushes changed 5k kms ago.
Standard 16' wheels with good tyres

Interior

standard seats red/blue trim
standard FTO mats
MOMO pedals
Tinted windows all around done professionaly

Security:
Alarm + immobilizer

Standard Comfort:

Electric Windows,
Electric-Folding Mirrors,
Height adjustable drivers seat,
Climate-Control Aircon ( aircon works perfect )
Remote Locking .
Aerial is located in the quarter panel

Things that need attention are

- paint needs retouching ,1 more layer for the best result ( bodywork in great condition done in feb 08)
- clutch is sometimes slippery and a bit noisy in gears , will need replacement in the near future
- boot doesn't open with the key probably lock/boot lid was changed
- cracked centre console (of course )

Engine is healthy as proven at the fto meets over the last year when the car got best 0-60 out of 4 fto's in limerick and a very good time on the quarter mile keeping up with the bigger brother the GPX.

It has covered only a few hundred kms since last NCT in December , the only thing that failed on was a bit high emissions but that was solved with a bit of redex and passed 5 days later with no problem.

All major services and mentainance were done by Paul Nolan recognised as one of the best fto mechanics around.
The only problem i had in these 2 years was the starter motor failing but apart from that was our daily driver with no probs.

Car comes with a brand new clutch kit from camskill for the right buyer.

price : 1599 euro

For any question PM works or I can be contacted on 0868819359.
Thanks

Didn't expect it myself, but best of luck with the sale. That's a hell of a lot of well cared for car for that money. Shocked there weren't a few dozen pics up already!

I've seen the blood sweat and tears that went into this car, car is very tight to drive. it's certainly maintained a lot more rigorously than my ones! easy to see why it went through the NCT so easily.

Best of luck with the sale

Had the same bull when trying to sell my one. Even had one guy offering 2 car, both with 2 years NCT AND cash. Mad!
Stick at it though, if you find a genuine buyer, he'll find it hard to walk away at that price.

Noone could argue with the price Seb, you're practically giving it away as it is.

Don't get too upset yet, From memory, even the finest examples of FTOs at reasonable prices took a while to sell lately. Your buyer will come along eventually.
Don't get panicced into lowering the price, it's deffo worth the asking price.

Nice car but with the potential gearbox trouble would put most off. Have you thought about putting in the clutch and getting it sorted , surely you would get your money back
