Tyres - Yokohama?

Postby kevinod » Fri Nov 11, 2005 10:59 am

Anyone have any experience with Yokohama tyres?

The Mitsubishi Lancer Register (www.lancerregister.com) are doing a group buy:

17" Road tyre. The '539' or 'C Drive' in 225/45/17 and 235/45/17 for only £84.60 each.

18" Road tyre. 'The Parada' in 225/40ZR/18 92W only £99.88 each

17" Road legal track tyre. 'The AO48R' in 235/45R/17 93W only £117.50 each

I'm going to hold off on buying tyres for another month or two but just wondering how good or bad that deal sounds?

How do the Yokohama tyres rate against say Goodyear Eagle F1s/S03, or Pirellis?

Kev.

I have never had a set of brand new Yokohamas on any car I have owned so I don't know how they would compare with the S03's , F1's or P-Zeros I have owned. I wouldn't think the Yokohamas would be any better than the above mentioned.

The AO48R is a different story - this is a road legal track day tyre - fantasic grip in the dry - I'd love these on the car for a track day.
Grip in the wet though would be very poor - you'd have to tip-toe through the winter. Great set of tyres if you had a spare set of wheels for 1/4 miles / track-days / warm summer days etc - Look cool as well 8)
