145 mph :D

Postby Mitsumaniac » Mon Sep 07, 2009 6:48 pm

Hi lads,
Just arrived from Poland yesterday. I prepared the car to this trip very carefuly so it`d be a sin not to try what it`s worth  What I said become a real thing on german autobahns... 145mph - thats the top speed of my GPX. She wouldn`t go faster and revs were just above 7000rpm. I drove at that speed for about 30 secs then came back to my average speed 110-120mph and trust me...at this speed I saw fuel nidle going down very fast . At least I had a chance to perform few experiments on the way.
For example... I`ve tested majority of 98+ octans petrols from different suppliers.
Result?
No.1 - Shell V-Pover Racing 100 (I had it when got 145mph), (filled up in Germany)
No.2 - Total Super something - i don`t remember the name (filled up in the UK)
No.3 - BP Ultimate 98 (filled up in Germany)
The rest (Aral, Orlen, Texaco, and few others) - don`t recomend :smt078

You ask for mpg? or more clear in my opinion km per liter?
@ 130kmph - about 8 l/100km :)
@ 160kmph - about 11l/100km :?
@ 180kmph - about 15l/100km

Generaly, I`ve done about 6500km mostly at high speeds and the car is in perfect condition.

Spot No.1
Did you know that :
@ 60mph rev counter shows 3000rpm
@ 80mph it`s 4000
@ 100mph it`s 5000
@ 120mph it`s 6000
@ 140mph it`s 7000

Spot No.2
The resonance point of my decat exhaust is at 110kmph.
At 160kmph it`s completely quiet - at least from the inside
Conclusion is natural :D

Spot No.3
In all countries I`ve been an FTO is quite a sensation 8) People were coming up asking for parameters and other stuff

I love this car :smt007

Sorry for a long tread

I have also got mine up to 145mph coming down the N4. Not sure how accurate it is as the speedo and the GPS give two different readings. The GPS reads 135mph. I've been told the GPS is probaly a bit more accurate. But either way its still damn quick.
Did you buy any new bits while you were in Poland? You said you might get a few bits when I met you to pick up the slam panel.

Wow, looks like you had fun alright. :D
Quick question, how did you figure out the mpg at different speeds?

very simle:
1. Fill up the tank to full
2. Speed up to required speed
3. When the tank is empty (almost at 0 with few litres left) fill up again to full and do simple calculations
amount of litres from 2nd fill up multiplied by 100 and divided by amount of kilometers done from 1st fill up.

For example: I`ve done 420km on ~48 litres and I know I was driving @ 160kmph
48*100/420=11.42 l/100km

Karl, this is a public forum, I assume by N4 you meant a race track?
