Yet another central locking question...

I need clarification of the weak central locking issue with FTO's. My gf's FTO central locking works fine with the key in the door. There's no delay, it's not a weak action, it just locks both doors. When she presses the button on the key nothing happens. Does she have the common problem or might there be something wrong with her key?
