Superchip Ignition Icon from Camskill?

Postby colm_mcm » Tue Jun 24, 2008 2:19 pm

Anybody used one?

Are the claims of 6-8bhp optimistic?

get your self amd ITG filtehttp://www.camskill.co.uk/products ... 3b0s9p154r as well - all those 8bhp additions soon add up!
Don't forget to buy the resistor for increased performance (off ebay).
The magnet for the fuel tank to improve economy.
and the electric supercharger (aka desk fan) from ebay for some forced induction.

Get a hairdryer for a tenner in Tesco and stick it on the intake instead.

Cheers for the amusing responses guys, I'm more skeptical than most about "performance" upgrades, I just thought Camskill and Superchips were reputable.

I've long been of the opinion that it is possible to get gains of 8-12bhp from an FTO provided the mods are a good match for each other and theres no weak point standing in the way of a power increase.

For instance - I believe the above superchip would be worthwhile on an FTO with an extensive list of mods including a decat SS exhaust, CAI intake, Iridiums, uprated FPR and fuelpump and there would be decentish gains to be had whereas if you just fitted it to an unmodified FTO the gains would be negligible.

I fitted a full Decat RSR exhaust to the Zed and combined with the CAI on the JWT heat shielded intake, an increased volume plenum and iridiums I would expect to have seen a modest power and torque increase. I would expect if I could add an aftermarket ECU to the mix that I could optimise these mods to get the best gains. Its not easy to get increased performance from a highly strung NA engine and how the mods work together is critical.

I had a feeling that would be the case. Bad form for Camskill to make inaccurate claims though.
