I've seen a white Mitsubshi coupe parked by the dealers on the Naas road a few times - It looks a bit like a GTO but more modern.

Has anyone else seen it and can you tell me what it is???

A 3000GT is the same as a GTO

Not exactly.... The turbo spec GTO differs from a 3000GT by the 13g turbo instead of having a 9b. but the rest is pretty much cosmetic though.

To be honest I read the above on a web forum.... I always thought the 3000GT was newer looking then a GTO.

The car you are referring to is sold on the JDM as a GTO and was available in N/A and T/T format. The car was facelifted in '99
The equivalent car in the UK was referred to as the 3000GT indentical cosmetically to the GTO but only the TT version was officially imported to the UK.
I believe the 'confusion' between the two models is that most of the GTO's you'll see around here are the older shape '90 to '99 model, whereas most of the 3000GT's in this part of the world (UK & Eire) are the newer shape one. Thus leading people to think these are two different cars. Basically the difference is the badging for different markets.
FWIW it's supposed to be a complete pig, and totally out classed by the oposition -Supra, RX7, skyline, etc. It also got a mention in the recent top gear publication 'Crap Cars'.

Just to clarify the first facelift occured around '93/94 the obvious difference being that the headlights were changed from a pop up style to a faired in style (similar to the FTO!). The next face lift occured '98/99.

This should read '90 to '93 i.e. the original shape.

whereas most of the 3000GT's in this part of the world (UK & Eire) are the newer shape one.

i.e. the '94 on facelift cars.

You're right, it is a new shape (white) 3000

Looks nice from a distance but it does look a bit american muscle car-ish.

Another mystery solved.
