Amazing fuel economy

Postby Daz » Wed May 26, 2004 8:52 am

Lads,

i was off work the past couple of days and i did a trip around various parts of the country meeting up with and visiting friends and you know the way were getting screwed with petrol prices of late, well i kept track of what i was doing and by using the conversion tables on this web site http://www.av.qnet.com/~rchill/conversi ... ion_tables
i discovered that i did an average of 37.75 miles per gallon CAN anyone beat that!!! and that included a stint stuck in traffic spending 2.3 hours to travel just over 3 miles to get out of limerick due to road works and i had the aircon on full blast at that time too.

Things that probably contributed to this was
1) just cruised on the first day taking my time barely dropping gear to overtake.
2) aircon off at all times as i had the windows open the entire time (apart from when stuck in the traffic on the second day i needed it on then as the car was like an oven.
3) Car had just gotten a full service ten days previous
4) on the second day i did do alot of overtaking after being stuck in the traffic but i don't think it would have jumped up that much more on the MPG if i didn't.

heheh, Daz, any chance you're gonna get a facelift as well..... or maybe one of each model?

Seriously though there aren't many cars out there good enough to convince a person to buy a 2nd one just to get a different gearbox.

No there isn't really, basically the other one was getting wreaked going to/from work so i needed a second car and thou a diesil would have been better for the amount of mileage i do, i just couldn't see myself driving anything other than an FTO,
