New speed cameras on the M50?

Postby CJ » Fri Apr 06, 2007 11:49 am

I very much doubt I'd be done for speeding on the M50 sue to its constant carpark status but I heard that theres two new gatsos in place near the toll bridge, anybody know for sure?

theres one straight after the bridge....coming from north - south....jus before the exit for the M4 (west).....limit is 60kmph! Wont be an issue during the day but be careful at quieter times. Dont know of the others....they ahd a sign saying new cameras starting 2nd april...dont see them...scare tactic perhaps!?

Nice wan lads, good to know in the unlikely event that I end up at the limit on the ironically monikered 'Nifty Fifty'.

I don't understand why the cameras in this country aren't sabotaged. I know that in Denmark and Holland there's always a vigilante typer person who tries to blow the bejesus out of the camera - sometimes they're simply "paint bombed"..

Not that I'd in any way encourage this behaviour..I just think it's slightly odd that I've never even seen a single camera all bent out of shape - yet I see loads of burnt out cars all over the shop..

There was one down our way (just north of balbriggan on the old N1) and it was always black with the burn.... In fact there was even a petrol can on top of it for a long time... It was black as the ace of spades... needless to say it didn;t work....

There was another one just north of that again up by ballough. between balbriggan and swords. Just before the swords dual carraigeway actually. We used to always flash it on the way home from town. It's on the left lane to catch people heading towards sword, but if you do about 80mph on the other lane towards it, and pull out just a little bit onto the centre line.... flash flash... :o Not of course that Iwould ever condone that sort of behaviour

Ahh ok - so it does happen .. Mad - all the people in the area I live must be using their petrol on commuting rather than setting stuff on fire..

Quite Rural..Very nice, I love it.

I wouldn't be miles off. Im only 2 minutes from the meath border... and 5 minutes drive from "rural pastures".... still though, north county dublin is the fastest growing area in the country according to the 2006 census... god damn.... :(

never saw so many 3 story tenements go up with no driveways in my life.
horrid. wouldn't mind relocating somewhere out your way or even dublin if it was out the sticks somewhere.

There is a new Speed Camera on M50. Same as the 2 cameras near to the Airport.

Lines put on the road last night, pole and bracket for Camera is standing. Expect the Camera itself to be up tonight!

Camera is positioned going Northbound just after Tallaght where Cars come on. This is the point the current roadworks start, there are big signs up for 60 km/h.
No use in the mornings but the Camera will get a load of punters at night / weekends, pass on.
