GR FTO - Manual - Just NCT'd - SOLD

Hey Lads n' Lassies, Have had this car a year but unfortunately like a lot of for sale threads the dreaded diesel has enslaved me

Ye probably know this stuff -> Mitsubishi FTO GR 2 litre V6 (non mivec) Manual Gearbox
Just through NCT with no issues

- Driven every day up to recent change of car.
- Getting very close to 30mpg .
- battery and exhaust mid section replaced last year.
- oil, filters and spark plugs done pre NCT.
- Tappets cleaned pre NCT so its pretty quiet up top.
- mileage is 188k KM / 117k Miles
- NCT August 2013
- Decent thread on all tyres
- rear and main underbody subframe is undersealed
-------------------BAD STUFF--------------
- Few bad bits on body work - reckon it had a few tips - I bought it coz engine and gearbox were sound
(see photos - previous owner don't blame me)
- Discs need changing in the rear, slight warp but got through the NCT fine for a second year running.
- aircon pump (clutch) is gone = no cooled air - I have a thread on here somewhere about this.

Open to reasonable offers, I have it up in a few places for sale.
No mad panic to sell and I know the market is pretty much gone for these cars so any suggestions re price, or breaking etc are welcome.

With the exception of it being manual and having an Nct the condition is very similar to one I looked at the other day from donedeal for €400. When walking away, the guy was offering to sell for €250. It had leatherette seats and a small DVD player. I still decided against it because i didnt want to break it and it would have been costly to put it right. The market is rock bottom for the FTO. It can't get any worse.

Yeah it'd be nice to see it still get some use but I'm not that much of a fan that I wouldn't break it to pay for some road tax or insurance.

V6 GR non-mivec engine -200
GR Manual gearbox -200
Standard exhaust system (mid section is only a year old) -100
Cat - 50
momo steering wheel - 30
Petrol tank with fuel pump -30
Radiator -30
pre facelift front spoiler (needs decent respray) - 70
Elec mirrors -10 each

Everything on this car is standard AFAIK
If there's enough interest in the major bits above I'll break the car.

and NO there are no wheel arch liners but they don't seem to mind in the NCT center here in Waterford

I got it off Gerry on here. Dunno what it came out of but I had to pop on a horn contact plate from my old steering wheel which wasnwas some aftermarket thing.
Theres an airbag in it (and airbag logo) but none on mine (and luckily NCT didn't complain about this)

I'd reckon it should fit but you may need to do some work for the horn
(I resoldered the horn springloaded contact to make it touch the contact plate)
Hope some of that makes sense - might be a simple swop though for you though !

Reminds me I have the old steering wheel + boss. I'll throw up a pic later.
I also have a spare front light and fog lights I got off someone here a while back but never got around to fitting.

It has come to NCT an FTO , pass and then breaking the yoke as nobody would buy it ??

Surely its worth more to keep as a nice reliable 2nd car/weekend car, than to break for feck all?

It would take a lot to get it right. Derusting, undersealed for sure. Spray work. It's hard enough to get interest for a near perfect FTO, let alone one needing work, so there's no surprise that there is a lack of interest, but its a damn shame too. If I had spare cash, I'd make an offer to have the car for spares.

I spend ages derusting the rear and resparaying with a white underbody spray not that black underseal gunk so its not too bad underneath.
Even got some metal in my eye for my troubles and had a trip to A&E for a doc to scrape it off with a needle
Silly me though had the goggles off for a while, I learned a valuable lesson - RUST IS A FCUKING NIGHTMARE

The market is gone for this car, probably even this type of car, as ye all well know, Had a few offers off 400 and 500 probably should have take those but sure if the engine and gearbox sell and a few other bits that'll make it worthwhile. I only need a few quid to pay for tax for the other yoke. IF I get another offer like above I'll proabbly take it. That's why I only tentatively have it here for breaking.

Would love to keep it even just for an odd track day or something but I have a bike aswell and that puts enough of a smile on my face
It is a shame I agree. I wanted an FTO for years, still are a great looking car IMO.

I was thinking of making a €400 when I was writing my last message, but I didn't know how I was fixed financially. I'm buying a carbon fibre bonnet this weekend so it's leaving me strapped. I might be able to muster 400 together if you want to sell it whole?

Sorry GT94 the steering wheel you were interested in (The momo) went with the car.
What I have is the one that was in there before, it was some aftermarket thing. I'll post pics shortly.
