Adjusting Drivers Door and Wind Noise

Postby IrishPhoenix » Tue Mar 07, 2006 9:44 am

I noticed when the car was being jet washed yesterday some water (not much) was left on inside of door with a few drops inside car. Does the door need to be adjusted? Also, is there any way to reduce the wind noise coming thru the side windows (usually apparent at 80kph or more).
You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen, it said 'Parking Fine'.

Sounds like your door seals need to be replaced?

I'll make the assumption that your windows are closed when you get this wind noise  I don't get that, or at least if I do I don't notice it anymore but I'm pretty sure I don't get wind noise like you're describing.

Is it a big job to replace the seals. I dont notice the sound that much these days but it can drown out the music quality at faster speeds. Has anyone ever gone the road (excuse the pun) of soundproofing their car?

I generally just keep them in condition with son of a gun. The rubber can become fairly hard and not form a good seal otherwise. Its amazing the difference a squirt of that stuff will do on these type of seals.

if it only leaking when its been "jet washed" then there is no problem, its not designed for that. don't mess with it unless its leaking under normal conditions, as for wind noise, maybe the door catch needs to be adjusted, thats simple enough but you may need an impact driver to loosen the catch. usually the seal should be ok unless its torn or broken somewhere

i had this problem fixed last week,
the mech just moved the door catchs in a touch
seems to have done the trick,
both for noise and water.
