FTO with Brembo's

Postby steelroe » Wed Jul 16, 2008 11:27 pm

I had a GpVr in earlier tonight for some work and noticed it had huge disks and Brembo 4 pots fitted straight onto the hubs, no bracket. Now either they changed the hubs or someone has sussed out a kit the does not need brackets with the standard hubs.

It is a UK reg car so I am going to contact the previous owner and what the fitment is.

I suspect EVO upgrade!

Would anyone with a 98 version R be willing to take some pics of the hub and wisbone on either side of their FTO.

I am doing some leg work for the up and coming project.

I've Brembos on mine, they're from a Seat Leon cupra R, if that's any help.

There's some pics on Photobucket.

I reckon whoever it was swapped the hubs. Thefreak on ftooc did a lot of research on brake kits so if there were Brembos that fit without brackets I'm sure he would have known about them (and half of ftooc would already have them on).

He got the brackets done up for the Wilwood calipers I have on front of mine.

Would be interesting to see how easy a swap the hubs would be though!

I have these pads, the link says they're for Tony Banton Kitted FTOs.
He might be worth looking up.

Yes Tony Banton kits were around some years back. I am more interested in the option I seen last night. Could work out a lot cheaper!

So if anyone could take pics of one of the GpVr front hub from all angles please I would appreciate it. (including wishbone and mounting bushes)

To my eyes its showing evidence that this FTO was involved in a fairly heavy frontal collision at some stage - it also seems that this FTO was originally Steel Silver.

HAd a slight frontal alright at some stage, nothing serious.
As for colour, the car was originally white, resrayed blue (damn good job on the exterior, but then they go and paint some of the engine bay black.
Look closely in front of the battery and you will see the bits of missed white
As for the calipers dont think they are gto, alomost sure we are looking at an evo 3 set up. Hubs and wishbones etc and big brake kit for same.

Nice car for £4K.

Will update as I find out more.

Ah! the white looks silver in the photos.

Like the Rotas & Brembos - good combination.

Pity about the exhaust though - those look shocking IMHO.

Doesn't look well - however from a performance point of view I could see why a straighter exit from the left hand side of the FTO (as opposed to the normal right hand side exit) makes more sense.

Still leaves the right hand side with an empty rear bumper indent where you'd expect the exhaust to be.

You're all wrong.

There is clearly a tennis ball lodged to the left of the engine.
