Has to be before the holls anyway
So work paid for us to go here yesterday. Here is my review of it:
Was impressed with the communication from the manager, I emailed Kilcornan twice and they never bothered their arses getting back to me, whereas he got back to me very quickly.
To be honest, it shouldn't be open yet. Track 2 is not complete, there is no lap timing and there were builders still walking around doing work. This was taken into consideration though by the manager so extra time for less money was given.
Sparco suits, nice Nice helmets too although I brought my own. Got ready and got in, didn't need 3 boosters seats as seat was adjustable. Set off. Track is quite small, nearly died when I saw the huge drop I had to go down which has a see-through grill at the bottom and the top (I hate these things I'll never walk on them!)
Track is very slippy meaning you can't keep foot to the floor and can't tap the brakes either while still on the accelerator (they've set it up that way). Power in karts is just plain silly. If you stop on a hill you are fooked. At the bottom of that big descent if someone stopped half way up and I couldn't get around them, I had to roll all the way back down and then floor it to try and get momentum to get back up it. Even on the smallest incline I had to shimmy back and forward to get the kart to move on - with foot to floor. And I'm not much more than 7 stone.
Kids (marshalls) there were completely incompetent. Couldn't answer any of my questions. When I asked if the karts were meant to do that I was met with 'put your hand up and we will come out onto a live karting session and push you up'. I had to sit through a 10 min briefing on flags and there weren't even any flags up there. As a result I got caught behind complete noobs for the entire thing, it was driving me mad (the urge to ram was strong! ) The only place to overtake is that descent and because they are so slow in front of you, they slow you down just enough to lose momentum and wayhay, you are rolling back down the hill with foot to the floor again.
Was a good laugh, made better by the fact that it was free, but I don't know if I would pay good money to do it. I would hate to imagine more than 6 people on the track...
