Checking FTO chassis #

Postby kevinod » Wed Jul 14, 2004 1:37 am

Hey guys,

just got the bill of lading thingy for my FTO, its en route from Japan finally, supposed to be arriving on the 7th August in Dublin!! :D

It has the chassis # on it though, and I'd like to check it out to see that it is what its supposed to be. There's some database system I can put the number into isn't there? Anyone know where its at or how to get it?

tia,
Kev.

Thanks for the link, but the chassis decoder doesn't seem to be working at the moment. He did mention that he got information from the workshop manuals though, so I'll have a look in there.

Having said that it looks like I might not have the complete chassis code, just DE3A-XXXXXXX, no letters before or after like in his example.

thanks,
Kevin.

If you want to send me over the full chassis no. I can see what CAPS brings up. What are you looking for exactly? If you want to determine model info from the classifiaction code, this may be what you're after:

Body: H= 2 door coupe

Gear box type: R= 4 speed Tip-Auto, Y= 5 speed Tip-Auto, N = 5 speed Manual

Model no: U = GS, H = GR, G = GPX, F = GP

Engine spec level: E = 4G93 1.8 16v with electronic fuel injection, M = 6A12 DOHC V6 with Electronic fuel
injection, H = 6A12 MIVEC Engine DOHC V6 with Electronic fuel injection and MIVEC

e.g HRGH is a 4-speed Tiptronic GPX, HNUE is a 5-speed manual GS, HNHM4 is a GR Sports package
