Help a brother out! :)

Postby RussMan » Fri Nov 25, 2005 1:40 pm

Hi there,

Ok well had a wee accident earlier in the week involving some ice and a curb.
Long and shorts of it i hit the kerb with the passenger side front wheel side on fairly hard. Big scuff mark but of besides that . I've noticed since that at anything over 70 kmh i'm getting allot of feedback from through the steering wheel. Handling feels ok its mainly the feedback i'm worried about. Do you reckon that i've maybe just knocked the alignment out a bit and needs adjusting or something more serious... i.e fooked shock.
I'd like to get somewhere who specialize in this area to take a look and do the whole laser alignment if required. I'd like to do this tomorrow.
Any suggestions on what to do? And a good place to go in Dublin to get it done on a Saturday... maybe i can call today and book etc.

Thanx

The fact you only notice a problem at higher speeds would sugest that either the wheels need re-balancing or you've knocked the alignment out.

You should pay a visit to either Dave McCanns or Discount Wheel and Tyre Services.

More info here -> http://www.fto-ireland.com/forum/phpBB2 ... php?t=2828 (Discount Wheel....)

and here -> http://www.fto-ireland.com/forum/phpBB2 ... php?t=1060 (Dave McCann)

I'd sugest ringing both to check if you need an appointment....

Russ - You sure your wheel isn't buckled? I wouldn't like to be trying to find a replacement for one of those babies.
Could be any number of different things really - Guessing isn't really going to help - You need to get it up on a lift. I'm sure Dave McCann's will tell you what the problem is - take care in the meantime though.

I'm not sure Russ would have been going fast enough to buckle the wheel (at least I hope not :oops: residents assoc would be out with the pitch forks :smt074 LOL :D

take care in the meantime though.

Yea, watch out for that roundabout at Belarmine the road there is covered in mud from the artics..... so bad that I fishtailed in the roundabout this evening - I was lucky I was travelling pretty slow. Didn't think much of it (cause I badly need new tyres) until the wife came in and said the same thing happened to her and she drives really conservative....

Trust me, it doesn't take much to buckle the wheel, I've just replaced two of them! Russman, give Rob at Discount Tyre and Auto a shout, he's 10mins up the road from Dave McCanns, you'll also get a club discount on any work carried out:
