Amsoil ATF oil - where to buy

Postby CJ » Fri Jan 18, 2008 7:31 pm

I've been reading a lot of great things about Amsoil ATF on the web of late (only bad thing is its not cheap, approx 15 euro per litre) but I've been unable to find an Irish supplier, has anyone come across the stuff on their travels? I'm loath to pay someone to ship a gansey load over from the UK.

It's meant to be the biz alright... you'll find info here...

this is the PM I got too.....

Your car takes 7.2 litres of ATF but you will take more than this to 'flush' out the system. Start by draining the sump and refilling. Then remove the return pipe from the oil cooler and let the engine tick over pumping out all the old ATF that was in the cooler pipes and torque converter. You will know when this is complete as the fluid coming out will change colour. Perhaps it will take 9 litres doing it correctly. I would suggest you therefore get 10L (2 x 5L ) to ensure you have enough and any left over can be used for topping up or the power steering.
Amsoil is available here http://www.performanceoilsltd.co.uk/...ion_fluid.html There are no dealers in Ireland. If you would like some we would be happy to send it over by carrier at £110 for 10L with free carriage. Just let me know (and let me have your email address) and I will send you a Pay Pal payment request

Nice job Adrian, free shipping! I've come across the same guy on a couple of forums, he seems decent enough.

Just thought I'd update this thread, I've been running Amsoil ATF in the Galant for the past few months and I would highly recommend it above and beyond Dextron III oils. Note that this is one of the few oils that meets the Mitsubishi Diaqueen \ Diamond SP II and III grades recommended for use in the FTOs tiptronic gearbox. Its been muted that Dextron III doesn't contain the right friction inhibitors which can result in erratic auto gear changes. Note that the boiling point of Amsoil ATF is 100 deg C higher than Dextron III, once the oil overheats, it significantly looses its ability to properly lubricate the 'box internals which can in turn lead to premature transmission failure.

Amsoil ATF isn't cheap but its highly regarded. My personal recommendation is to use it over Dextron III the next time you change the ATF (note I have no affiliation with any of the companies listed, just sharing my experiences).

Its available online from the following 2 companies:

http://www.performanceoilsltd.co.uk/aut ... fluid.html

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-1052-amsoil ... d-atf.aspx

Bearing in mind peoples recent recent gearbox issues, check your auto fluid levels (when hot) and condition today. If its bright red than its most likely fine, if its brown then its cooked and should be replaced ASAP.
