95 GPX added to Carzone today

Went to see this today, think I was the 1st to go look at it.

95 GPX Manual with 183km for 5,500.

Car has been badly resprayed very dark (army-ish) green, but other than that the car is sound, it drives very well, and if I wasn't so fussy about paintwork, it might be good value. Also has traction control with ABS, and a Sony 7 disc CD system.

Still on the lookout for a nice GPX manual. Where have they all gone!

Looks tidy in the pictures..does't strike me as being a bad price..if the car feels good and runs smoothly..

But you're right - if you don't like the color - well then..

BTW, the GPX I looked at today didn't have the Momo steering wheel, it was a regular type non leather wheel with buttons for the horn, like you'd get on a Galant or something. Strange.

I noticed the steering wheel allright.... looks like its from a GTO... not 100% sure though.... its a UK import too: rear fog light and odometer reading in miles.... tell tale signs.

That Version R is the bees knees

Dont get caught up on the bonnet.... if you dont fancy it you could always pick up a standard one somewhere...

Pity you werent looking to buy couple months back.... bags loads of manual gpx's to choose from on this site... good luck with the search... just hold out and be fussy when buying... if theres something that turns you off then dont buy... a better one will come eventually.

Hey colm...

The first one (army green) looks very clean. Is it that clean in person. Milage sounds right, and looks tidy. (lovely rims)

The second one seems nice too, but something is putting me off it. Im not sure is it the bonnet (maybe) or the rims. The mileage seems really really low for 10 year old car. I drive a white Version R myself (see gallery). 1999 and has 100k on it now. I suppose have alook at it if you can. I find your "instinct" normally kicks in when you see a car. You wither feel 'good' about it or else something 'doesn't feel right'.

If the army green is a manual also, there isn ot much difference in them. about 40kg in weight. And the air con in the Version R has no display, just manual knobs. Seats are different in the version R too + it has strut braces and LSD.

I've pointed that white GPvR FTO out already as a good buy in a previous thread - get it up on a ramp and have a look at it - if its clean then its very good value especially with some of the nice mods - Evo alloys/HKS induction and I quite like the bonnet.

That Regular 4 spoke wheel features on a lot of 95/96 FTOs - it is actually the standard wheel - the Momo 3 spoke was an upgrade item.

That green FTO is originally a japanese model, but was ex[prted to the UK, where the speedo conversion and rear fog light was fitted, the irish owner doesn't have it too long.
The body looks tidy in the pictures, but the quality of the paint job is quite poor lots of intentations and grit under the paint, and slight peeling under the door rubbers. I work in the motor trade and couldn't live it down driving something with dodgy paint.
If you were thinking of buying a GPX with a view to spraying it, this car may suit. I couldn't buy it though, I just didn't get excited by it!
It drives bang-on though, and the fact that it has the ABS, traction, 6 disc CD and rear wiper help it.

Does the GP V R lose anything that the GPX has?

the white one is has a creative sports bonnet, not many of them about and you'd get decent money if it was a genuine one!!

I don't think the GPvR has Aircon.. But hey we're in Ireland!

I look the look of the GPvR - as dave said you could sell the bonnet if you REALLY don't like it - bonnets are being sold all the time on eBay..There are even a few breakers around that should have one or two in stock.

No folding door mirrors on the GPvR too as far as I know... not a major loss I guess, but a nice little gimmick.

From what I can see, the GPVR gains strut braces and Ralliart exhaust over the GPX, but doesn't get side skirts

Yeah I have aircon as standard in my GPvR. It's just manual, not digital.

what do you mean doesn't get sideskirts? It has sideskirts in the picture in the ad? I would say put the white one up on a ramp. If it looks that clean, it looks good. Very good, milage and price wise.

what I meant was I didn't think the GRvR got them standard, another FTO website I looked at didn't mention side skirts, but another one I've looked at since says that they got them!

I'm not bothered about having or not having climate control to be honest, as long as it has aircon I'm happy.

Theres so many spec choices on the FTO that its hard to get any 2 cars the same but the main advantage of a GPvR is the Limited Slip Diff and the fact its lighter by a few kilos not having the digital climate control (as opposed to air con) and electric folding mirrors. I like the fact the GPvR also comes with HIDs, a strut brace and Blue or Red Version R seats which are way nicer then the tacky normal FTO patterns.

BTW - The exhaust on the GPvR is the same as the GPX. Its just the Ralliart version that was officially sold in the UK that had a different (HKS I think) exhaust over the GPX but theres very few of these around.

That GPvR looks reasonable value for money, if you don't like the Creative bonnet, you should have no difficulty selling it and replacing with the standard with change in your pocket. I really like the EVO Enkei's on the FTO, they look well without being too in your face.

The addition of LSD, strut braces, lighter body, Version R seats and sports suspension as standard makes the GPvR a really good buy.

AFAIK, its down to ligher panels and a reduction in sound deadening material.

Price is not to bad either if the car is as good as the pics.

Those alloys on the GPVR look extremely good - they appear to be very new. They're probably worth a grand or so alone ?

I know that a good few FTOOC owners jumped on an Enkei group buy on the Lancer Register some time ago, IIRC, the wheels were reasonably cheap (£300 or something stupid like that). That said, they'd costs a pretty penny if you were to buy 'em off the shelf.
