Looking for the bits underneath when you lift the boot lid up. Paul Nolan recommended I get some today.

Go down to your local hardware store and pick up some of this...

Cheaper than Dynamat, and does a great job, just cut to shape.

Why would you want stuff that just adds weight?
After driving an FTO for the last few days - it certainly has a lot of road noise - I reckon that even if you added 50 kgs of soundproofing you'd still have an noisy ass car so just keep it as Mitsubishi intended.

If theres sh1te in the boot thats rattling then take it out - replace the spare with a can of puncture repair foam and loose the tools as well. Less noise - more performance and better sound to boot.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - the path to the perfect FTO is through weight reduction - A good nick 200bhp/1100kg FTO is all the sports car anyone should need.

Agreed 100%, assuming you're trying to shave 10ths on the track.
Day to day, on the road, I can't see it making any discernible difference.

Loose 100kgs from an FTO (spare/tools/air con etc) and you'll have a much better performing FTO - road or track. 166bhp per ton vs 182 bhp per ton is quite noticeable - in addition to significant improvements in the handling of the car.

Been there - bought the Tshirt - I remember Russel on here saying similar at a 1/4 mile day a few years ago and at the end of the day throwing out all the contents of his GPvR onto the road (spare/tools/rear seats included) to realise the benefits of loosing weight and trying to get near my FTO in the drag.

You're right, it doesn't. I stuck 2 rolls of flashband into the old GPX to deaden down rattles from the upgraded audio system, it worked a treat. I wasn't too bothered about the added 5 or 6 kg in weight, it weighed less than the amps in fact. Amps, subs and flashband are not for the track conscious however....

To be honest, I haven't noticed anything - but Paul reckoned it's very noisy. It's only a tiny bit btw - not the whole boot!

Might just leave it so!

I used similar stuff on my GR, stripped the boot completely. Used that roofing adhesive on the inside of the boot lid, I also removed the rear parcel shelf cover (which houses the speakers) fitted this stuff to the rear shelf, the rear fire wall and around the rear fire wall frame. Fitted to the inside of the rear wings where I could reach. Then for a finish, using car underseal spray (the aerosol type) I sprayed the inside of the arches (where I couldn't reach with the adhesive) I also sprayed the entire boot floor (as I recall), and the floor area inside the car under the rear seats. Net result -one full day down the drain, climbing in and out of the car. Zero reduction in noise.

One of the things I did notice about getting back into the FTO was the large increase in road noise. I guess it comes from an era where noise reduction wasn't a priority which IMO it shouldn't be when it comes to sports cars.

I say go way outa that with ye're fancy flashband!

I flashbanded the boot and doors many years back when I had subwoofers. It makes the doors a lot more clunky rather than tinny when closing and also reduces any problems with rattly windows - same with the boot.

If I had one complaint about the FTO, that would be it.
The tinny sound when closing the doors and boot, it makes the whole car seem cheaper.
