Front Bumper respray

I'm looking at buying a '95 GPX. The one I'm looking at is descrbed as eletric blue.

I'm not sure if this is an origional colour or a respray. The front bumper is quite badly chipped (almost flaking) on the lower part just to the sides of the reg plate. Does anyone know roughly how much a bumper respray would cost? Also are they able to make up a matching paint if i don't have a paint colour code?

Looks like after market paint job. I'd say a minimum of €200 for a bumper respray, depending on paint, is it metallic, pearlesant?

Is this the same car that was advertised (at a very optimistic) €8000 or was it €8500 a while back?

Depending on the type of paint, you're talking in and around €100 - €120 for a straight respray (I paid €100 to get a facelift bumper resprayed last year). Any good bodyshop will be able to match it up. I really like that colour by the way (obviously an aftermarket job, the FTO only came in 'moonlight blue'), it really makes the car stand out in a good light.

Well they are both traders it is possible that the car was sold through the trade from one garage to another. If it was bought privately and then immediately traded in then I would be a bit more suspicious.

Thanks for all the replies. I went to look at the car again, this time paying a bit more attention to detail (last time was a flying visit). The car drives well but the bodywork really lets it down. From a distance it looks great in the colour but when you get up close there were a lot of scrapes & chips. I didn't like the look of how some of the panels were lining up either. The guy did tell me that the whole car had been resprayed before but insisted that it wasn't crashed & that this was its origional colour. Think I'll give it a miss and keep on lookin'.

He's lying, that colour was never stabndard on the FTO. Sounds like it will need a full respray which will cost, I'b be inclined to leave it alone unless you can get it for a very good price.

I wouldn't accept that as an explanation for dodgy panel lines..

There are a good few other FTOs being offered for sale at the mo..
