Red stuffs

Postby optical illusion » Tue Jul 14, 2009 4:10 pm

Bought and fitted a good few weeks ago now, but holy hell less dust me hole!!

Please tell me this is going to go away and it's only the 'breaking in' dust that's coming off them? They are absolutely destroying my lovely white alloys! If I had know they were that bad I would have bought normal mitsi ones, I wouldn't mind but they were bloody expensive! The standard white emc's I got for the back seem to have normal enough amounts of dust coming off them.

I haven't been doing any hard braking in it since I fitted them, would that have something to do with it?

your back brakes don't have that hard a life, so brake dust is never an issue on the back.

maybe paint your wheels red :)

Had redstuff on my FTO for a while, never noticed they were dusty at all. Wilwoods were mad dusty but always thought the redstuffs were very low dust. They seem to change the 'recipe' every so often with those pads though.

count yourself lucky my last set of red stuff wrecked the disc and then decided to crumble like the set before did. yea they have less dust but i can live with that. have mintex 1114`s on at the mo and well pleased even if they are dusty

In my experience, both Red and Greenstuff are very dusty pads - an often unavoidable 'performance' trade-off. I currently have Greenstuff on the GX (GPX discs and calipers), they're the dustiest pad I've fitted to an FTO (Pagid aside). Regular alloy cleaning will keep staining to a minimum.
