Knocking Problem

Postby Anican » Sat Sep 17, 2011 2:48 pm

Hello Im new to the forum and thought id say hi.

Anyway my can has developed a knocking noise when i turn the steering wheel 90 degress right, but when i straighten up then turn right again it does the same noise and knock, and sorry its the front Left side, I have replaced Shocks, Anti roll bar bushes, Droplinks, Tie rods and Track rod ends.
I have been reading some of the posts and some of you say that it could be the CV joint, i have looked at the boot and removed it and there are no cuts or holes and there is lots of grease in the joint.
Is there any way me finding out if it is the CV joint

Cheers All

Certainly sounds like a CV joint. One on the wifes Mazda was making noise for years. Never got round to having it replaced though. Didn't make that much difference to driving it, but then, it was no FTO.. :D
Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

There could be minute wear you're not seeing on the boot.

Describe the noise in more detail.

Most likely your cv joint, if it happens when you lock to the right, it is your passenger side cv joint that needs to be replaced and vice versa.

As in what side? Whatever side you you turn into it's the opposite - like Gerry said.
