As you'd recall, we were discussing the problem of short circuits in the tail/position lamp circuit which was blowing engine room fuse 10.
The mechanic had apparantly fixed the problem in mine, blaming it on an aftermarket radio/cassette that had been incorrectly wired. Seemed ok for a few days, but this evening while I was driving, my dash lights went out once again. Fuse 10 (10 amp) was blown. I replaced the fuse twice, but it blew instantly each time when I turned on the parking lights.
I've been looking at the circuit diagram which I downloaded from the fto-ireland website, and I can't see anywhere where the tail light/position light circuit goes anywhere near the radio. So as you can imagine, it's pretty confusing for me.
There's another problem - the electrical circuit diagram on this site is for a 98 fto, but mine's a '96. There are differences in the junction box on the steering column, so it's hard to figure out which connector is which.
Can anyone - muaddib or anyone else - offer any ideas?
It's got me frustrated, since I thought the problem was fixed.
Cheers
David
