This is a rare extra on the FTO - not many original buyers specced the alternative dials - much better than a clock in any case.

Thats COOL!!!!! I'd love to have an oil temp meter in there instead of a clock.

Oil temp & Oil Pressure would be extremely usefull - and could potentially save you an engine replacement at some stage

I'll be forever annoyed about that - one good point is that the replacement engine runs better than the orignal one.
I ordered Oil pressure, Oil temp and an additional Water temp dials+senders along with an apillar mount yesterday..
am also getting an Apiro forced induction kit - but that's entirely unrelated.

The voltmeter gives me peace of mind if I'm sitting around in the car with the engine off. I have a lot of paranoia about dead batteries from bad experiences in the past.

I have the same oil temp / manifold vac gauges.

Interesting to note that the oil takes a lot longer to reach working temperature (80deg-ish) than does the water temp which is in the main cluster - at least 10 mins of driving. The water temp gauge displays a warm engine after 2-3 minutes.

The vac gauge is a bit pointless IMO - can't tell anything useful from it (please enlighten me if I'm wrong here!).

Ideally, you shouldn't dog the engine until the oil has come up to temperature, a lof of people use the water temp guage as an indication of engine conditions, throwing an oil temp gauge into the equation gives you a better idea of whats going on internally.

As regards the vacuum gauge, they're useful for gaining a better understanding of the air/fuel mix i.e indicating lean\rich conditions. Its also useful for determing vac leaks in the manifold, worn valves or a clogged catalytic convertor. Check out the table at the bottom of this page for more info.

Agreed - I've never had one on a car before the FTO and always assumed that the engine was up to temp when the gauge was in the green - apparently not.

One drawback - I like the look of the aftermarket electro-luminescent backgrounds like these or similar - no-one sells the vac / oil gauge versions though.

I think these gauges were also used in the Evo 3? maybe there are aftermarket dials available for the Evo?
