Scams

Postby Myfeckin FTO » Tue Jun 24, 2008 11:13 pm

Anyone notice the massive increase in scams online these days - particularly with car sales. Cars for sale at stupidly cheap money to get suckers to part with deposits.

Exactly. You won't get them at the mobile number given (as its false or someone elses) - you have to email them - they say they're out of the country - but if you send a deposit for the car they'll get someone to deliver the car to you and you can have a look at it to decide to buy.

Heres another RX8 (note no contact number given) -

I just emailed him telling him I wanted to buy - its good craic stringing these guys out for ages. I'll see if I can get an address to post the cheque to.

In fairness, if you send a stranger a cheque as a deposit on a second hand car you've never seen you deserve all you get

I fear Carzone wouldn't bother clamping down on this, I've emailed them before about cars that were obviously scams, and ads that are recycled with a different car added on, and never got a reply.

OK guys - a prize for the person who can develop the most entertaining email thread with one of these bozos !!

Let's have some fun !!

I've had a few interesting exchanges with the guys who want to give you £80m for the small fee to ship the bank draft to me. I was once very sneaky and gave him the mobile phone number of a mate who I wanted to annoy. Poor sod had punters from Nigeria phoning him up about sending the courier fee for the cheque
