trouble abrewing

driving down the road yesterday and the car suddenly shifts down to 3rd gear,
now i have only 2nd and 3rd and i need to select them manually, also the N is constantly fashing.
its going to visit the mechanic soon but i was just wondering if anyone here had a similiar problem?

Your gearbox is in 'limp home' mode. First thing to do is check the ATF levels and top up id necessary. Other than that, its likely to be a malfunctioning sensor. Have a search of the forum for more info e.g. http://www.fto-ireland.com/forum/phpBB2 ... php?t=5000

thanks for the links CJ, got the gearbox oil and filter changed and it seems 2 have done the trick,must have just overheated
