Soon to be newbee

Postby boru » Thu Sep 18, 2008 10:39 pm

Hi all. Agreed purchase of a 1996 GPX yesterday, hopefully picking it up within the next few days. Can't wait. It's an auto/tip, first time I've ever driven one was the test drive. It may take time to get used to, but I was very impressed. The Bimmer has to go.

Congrat's man, I've only recently became an owner myself.

Still have a grin on my face when I get out of work and see it's not a corolla I have to walk to

Why do people keep saying others will be disappointed with auto!? Its a tiptronic, major difference lads!!! You dont have control over an auto gearbox, you have the option of control over a tiptronic. I have a tiptronic, and use the tip mode all the time, and I wouldnt change it for the world, if someone offered me a manual for mine then I wouldnt swap, I love manual cars for sure, but what a manual cant do is allow you to relax in traffic without changing up and down and keeping a foot on the clutch half pressed in case you move an inch. And then when you hit open road, its in tip mode and the manual feel is back, though to be honest I think its more than manual feel, more like fast shift gears. So Boru, or anyone else who is thinking of buying a tip, dont be put off by tips or by comments that tips are boring or disappointing, cause they're not, they're a damn fine bit of machinery and deserve a lot more credit than they're given in some places!

Here here, I've been extolling the virtues of tip gearboxes for years.

Shame on you Keith!
