Wires for tweeters

Postby Muad_dib77 » Tue Oct 24, 2006 2:01 pm

Guys & Gals

I was looking in the dash the other day and found that there are wires for tweeter there. Are these patched through from the front speakers - or did I not spot them as I was fiddling the loom for my headunit?
Did anybody fit tweeters themselves, or are they supposed to be the from the manufacturer?

They're conencted into the existing wiring for the front speakers. You can fit tweeters in there but I wouldn't bother tbh.

I know that Nigel (old owner of The Bulls GPX) fitted a set of standard Mitsi tweeters into the existing wiring and there was very little difference in terms of the soundscape.

I've set of Rockford Fosgate mid range speakers up front, they included crossover circuits which I've mounted inside the front doors. I then ran cables out and up to the dash where I've placed tweeters. Componants make a big difference over the stock setup, that siad, I'm running them off a 4 x 50W (RMS) RF amp which kinda helps.

Aye - just bought myself a pair of small hifi bullet tweeters to fit the holes. I know they're not ideal - but - hey - at 99p I wasn't gonna not take them ;-)

Will try and just hook em up - if it doesn't sound better I might install a small amp up front. Picked up a small amp the other day.
Not overly powerful 2x75w or 4x36w - but should be better than what's in my HU - cause the sound from that is pretty poor..(loud but crap)..

Already upgraded the speakers throughout the car.

Got kenwoods up front & sony in the back.. Massive improvement on what was there - but I do wish I'd gotten some Alpine or RF stuff from the beginning.

Yeah baby..... 8)

Very easy to wire up - wires need to route directly to the battery up front but it's still an esy enough job.

Got me some Mitsi tweeters and put them in there alright but as CJ said, it made little enough difference.

I have some Sony speakers to put into the front door (one of these days... ) which I'm hoping will give me some more volume from up front.
