Postby stufoz » Sun Jun 08, 2008 8:51 am

hi all ... wonder if one of you could help... i have a 96 mivec tip... problem was there when i bought her but is now getting an issue
heater/blower only works when i have the fan setting to full speed... alsohave had to unplug the aircon under the glove box as it just stays on full.... even before you turn it on???? haven't got a clue.... please help as i honestly don't see this as a one off problem and more of a common fault!

Yup - I think Dan is right sounds like it could be a fault in the controller box. It could be helpful if you had another one handy to test the theory.

What happens when you start her up with the controller unplugged?

when i start her up with the controller unplugged just nothing at all but you see the heater controls and the air con controls i get two different results.... with just the air con unplugged i can get the heater box to come on but only on the "full" setting! however if i just back it off one notch , it shuts off completely
the air con plugged in (plug under the glove box)as soon as i turn the key the air con comes on full blast whichever setting the controls are on , it stays on till the ignition is switched off.... very odd don't you think? :?

Either controller as stated above or the power transistor. The transistor is what regulates the power of the fan up and down when you presss the buttons on the controller. It is located under the passanger footwell in the Black air box

There's a couple of units for sale on eBay.co.uk - could be worth looking into..

If not Rory/SteelRoe might be able to help.

You dont need to open the clack box, The unit is bolted into the side of it, It look like a big heatsink when removed
