Shane.... you back to decisions decisions again? I would buy and S2000 is I were you (which reminds me I never got meeting you to show you my S2000 to see if you would buy one). I reckon I would take in an EVO 7 or 8 from the UK.

http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/CARS_search_stock.asp?photo=1&dealerid=26337&action=dealer_stock&make=MITSUBISHI&model=LANCER

http://www.nevillescars.co.uk/showroom.asp?pagenumber=1&make=MITSUBISHI&model=EVO&refnumber=&recordid=408

Or, what about a nice 3 series cabrio or Audi A4 cabrio?

Naw, I know what I'm after now, actually I have a shortlist which includes boxster, 225bhp tt, s3 and 330ci. I've driven all but the boxster, which may be just outside my budget unfortunately. I did bag a drive in an s2000 and it was awesome but for daily driving the power was too high up the rev range - same story with the 330ci but my wife likes those so they stay on the list.... best car so far was the 345bhp s3 at motorvation - insurance with everything declared will be expensive though so that's probably out. The tt also impressed me but it would have to be black and have bose + xenons -

I've a guy who looks like he'll take the golf off me this week so the search is on in earnest now...

Astra OPC's have now fallen below the 30K mark - http://www.carzone.ie/usedcars/index.cf ... rID=486408

Very quick hot hatch.

As has the new 200bhp Golf

http://www.carzone.ie/usedcars/index.cf ... rID=495289

However if you ask me - You will get am '03 350Z (through UK or Japan) for very close to 30K - I will be in Dublin on Wednesday night if you want to take mine for a spin - you won't want another car after driving it.

You're tempting me bad right now.... I'd love to have a gander - I'm working in the IFSC and I hope to have the golf sold by then....

Didn't know you bought one...must have missed that post! Sweet. Great motor, good luck with it!

Hope I have not missed something obvious, but how can the power be too high for a daily driver? The more the better I think. Nothing I love more then coming home from work after a long day and getting a few blips at 9,000 RPM.... where conditions and restrictions allow of course!

Don't get me wrong, plenty of power there alright - and the noise is fantastic but as a daily driver it just felt a bit flat at lower revs - I'm probably just used to the shove from a turbo as it comes on boost from 2k rpm. The other thing was that as a 2 seater it's just wouldn't suit our lifestyle..... still an amazing car and I'd love one in the garage but not as my only car right now ;)

Alfa 156. 4 door practicality, leather, decent performance, Italian styling -it has it all!
SOC you may as well take myfeckinfto up on his offer of a test drive -not everyday someone makes an offer like that. Although I suspect he is just trying to recruit candidates for 350Z-ireland.com (or should it be fairlady-ireland.com :r )

 Touche

That particular moniker will be removed very shortly from rear of said bus as will the Nissan badges to be replaced by just a "Z" - http://www.funkystyling.co.uk/item_deta ... =449002536

We already have a Japanese Performance section here so that will have to do - I don't have the ability or inclination to start a 350Z website - there are what seem like 100's already in existance. Though I suppose if you were after web hits you could do worse than start-up a fairladyboy.com website - thats if there isn't already one - I dare not check!

I'd go for an S2000 for that money (I like revving!)
350Z would be next best for me, would just have to lighten her a bit, she's a bit of a porker, but a powerful porker all the same!

Ah, I see! too much high end AND not enough low end.... I misread that originally.... I thought you didn't want too much power... as if!!

I'd love a spin in the 350z, even as a passenger - problem is between work, training and trying to make time for people to view the golf I dunno if i'm around....

It was on carzone - motorvation were selling it but it looks like it's gone now... it was an absolute beast of a car - but try insuring it - it's had a very large turbo fitted with forged pistons, and a few other bits plus the coilovers, porsche brakes, etc., etc.

I want MORE POWER but because of my lazy driving style it needs to come in low in the rev range - I might be getting old cause while I love the sound of a nice engine for everyday life I actually prefer having lots of power with very little noise - stealth mode 8)

350Z has far more power and torque lower down the range which will make it feel faster in day to day driving. When you wring the S2000 out it gets much closer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozvR3UFbkLA

IMO - 350Z for a straight line drag - nothing in it on track times though.
