Caliper service kit

Postby jayod12b » Tue Mar 29, 2011 7:54 pm

Quick question lads
Just servicing my caliper at the moment and im wondering would anyone know where does the orange pack of greasy go,
It wouldnt be on the piston as this would mix with the brake fluid wouldnt it??

I think its around the rubber ring for expansion and contraction?
Any help appreciate
Thanks

Is it copper grease?
If so I put it on the back on the pad, so it doesn't stick to the caliper. I don't think it should go on the piston itself as this already has a form of grease on it, or so I was told anyway.

No just ordinary grease
Im thinking now it might be for the 2 bolts that hold the caliper in place

Sorry for hijacking this post but how do ya service the calipers?
I had a squeak that I was telling the lads on the last meet. Seb thought it was hilarious the way I was explaining after a skin full, but it is a stuck caliper.

Id had to do mine as the pistons werent retracting back from the pads and heating up the brake disc and alloy

Simple enough job Steward :
clamp the hose pipe , i use a vice grips along the pipe line
caliper off
Place caliper in a workshop vice
Twist out the 2 pistons and replace seals with this set

Replace all back together and bleed the brakes
